James Andrew Paterson, born October 5, 1931, was called to the tee in another world on February 2, 2023.

James Paterson was the second son of William M. and Mildred C. Paterson.  At a young age, he began his love of golf.  He was a member of the University of Nevada Reno Men’s Golf Team while earning his degree in Business.  He was called to serve during the Korean War.  Upon his honorable discharge and return to Reno, he joined his father and brother at Paterson’s Men’s Clothing Store until it closed in the early 1980s.  After the close of Paterson’s, he embarked on a new career in real estate.  His love for golf never diminished and as many who drove past Skyline and Moana may remember seeing, he regularly practiced his short game on his front lawn.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother William M. Paterson, Jr., and several dog companions.  He is survived by his children, Mary Carroll Davis (Craig), Lori Paterson, and Diane Jones, his grandchildren Molly Kane, and Matthew Kane (Sierra), his niece Deborah Kaplan (Martin), and Izzy.  Special thanks are given to Kathleen Dancer, A+ Hospice, and Brookdale Vista for their care of Jim in his later years.  No service is to be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you remember Jim by making a donation to First Tee Northern Nevada
